Bally’s Atlantic City – Trip Recap

From time to time, I like to break up all the gambling posts with a post that is just about a recent trip. I’ll start writing a trip report when I arrive in a hotel or at a property and I’ll take pictures of the hotel room and I’ll be sure to mention any local places worth checking out in case you ever visit.

First, my main reason for taking an overnight trip was to play some poker. I wanted to win some and then eat some good Jersey Shore seafood. Harry’s Oyster Bar at Bally’s AC is a great place to go for that. Harry’s has a great selection of beer, wine and cider. I usually go for the IPA and Crispin Cider myself which will give a great buzz on just 2 pints. They also have a Buca di Beppo open now, instead of the diner style food that was previously on the restaurant floor.

Now the poker at Bally’s AC has moved to the ‘Wild Wild West’ theme part of the casino. I like this new room at WWW over the old room because this new room is enormous, with over 60+ tables. Also the Friday 7pm tournament has 5k guarantee prize pool which guarantees a good number of registrations for the low entry price of $120. With the top prize being around $2,400 to as much as $3,200, if they get around 180 players. As Caesars AC no longer has a poker room in their casino Bally’s is the only place to play in the middle of the boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Bally’s will generally have a lot of $1/2 NL Super tables going. As many as 4-7 of the $1/2 Super NL and about 2-4 total games of $2/4 Limit tables. The main difference between $1/2 Super NL and and a regular $1/2 NL poker game is that min & max buy in is higher, @100-500 for Super NL, so Super NL plays like low buying a $2/5 NL game and depending on how the table plays this is great since $2/5 NL games aren’t generally available at Bally’s. Most players generally buy in for $200-300 at Super NL and as it is harder to get a $2/5 game here, due to a lack of players having the bank roll for $2/5 or $5/10 outside of games at the Borgata poker room.

Also new at Bally’s: The party pit was a nice addition to the Wild West Mountain Bar as they have music and a dance floor if you want to hang out, drink and dance without having to pay a cover charge. They’re also open 24/7, which is rare in AC.

The room pictures below are of what you would find if you stayed in the Bally’s tower, 40th floor and up, with a king size bed and a bathroom with a separate tub and shower. Nice if you can get it, and if you look ahead of time its much cheaper mid week and on Fridays and Sundays than Saturdays, at least that is what I generally find when booking through the casino. This is a decent room for AC, I’ve stayed in better, and a better room in AC nothing to write home about.

Lastly for people who like to play craps, Bally’s has 10x odds and I don’t know what that means. Just keep your money in your pocket and you will be happier for it.

These are results from playing poker.
