Note my record on Saturday was awful but I did redeem myself with pick both game correctly against the early spread. I hope most of you didn’t get stuck with the Cavs -3 as the spread shifted very close to game time. The loss of Pau Gasol is tremendous as is the lack of defense from Rockets. As a team, they have won only game 2 and are in danger of taking a very early exit after earning a two seed in the much tougher Western Conference.
First up Atlanta @ Washington +4.5 197.5 over/under
The Hawks front line has underwhelmed defensively, and the series has gotten very chippy as Saturday night two techs were given out one for good reason the second for very little in my opinion. Hopefully if the Hawks can maintain composure throughout the rest of this series it seems unlikely the Wizards will be able to maintain this level of play as they weren’t able to throughout the season or in last year’s playoffs either. Having won 14 fewer games than the Hawks during the regular season. I expect a regression to mean to happen as the Hawks have shot the ball from deep, very sub-par through the series thus far. The play of Nene Hilario, Paul Pierce and Bradley Beal must maintain in order for them to win. I don’t see all three being able to bring consistently it, but Pierce will show up When needed. Nene is the biggest question mark as he is the main man on the frontline, and he goes so do the rest of the bigs. With John Wall out likely for the rest of this series. My Pick Atlanta -4.5 and the over I expect this game to be played at a quicker pace as Atlanta needs to get into transition and will shoot better over these next 4 games from the perimeter.
Golden State @ Memphis +4 196 Over/Under
With this Series it has gone way off course for the once seemingly unstoppable Warriors after having won 67 games in the regular season the Grizzlies with Mike Conley have had their number in the playoffs after losing the season series 2-1. The warriors have not gotten anything Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green this series with the exception being game 1. Since then they have combined for 9-28 from the field in the following two games. I don’t feel very good betting on Bogut and Green to win this game or any other for the Warriors, but they have to have them contribute more or Curry and Thompson will have to shoot the lights out in Memphis. The Grizzlies have dominated the pace of te game and defensively as well with few offensive rebounding opportunities for the Warriors have existed. My pick is the Grizzlies as the Home underdog +4 its hard not to take as even if they do lose i don’t see this game getting away from them at home as they too well from being close last year that they cannot relax or the Warriors will put up buckets quick. stay away from the over under as I see this as a trap bet.
